This is a good question. As a child a lot of us look at our Mom’s and Dad’s and say that we’re going to grow up and be just like them. Of course we’re talking about the good things when we make such a claim, but what about the bad things? Am I going to have big thighs because my Mom has big thighs? Am I going to have a pot belly because my Dad has a pot belly? Good questions.

If you really look at the situation you’ll find that you parents have the physical traits because they have conditioned their lifestyle in such a way to allow them. If they eat the wrong foods and slack on the exercising, these things (big belly and butts) happen.

Will these undesirable traits pass on to us, the offspring? Unfortunately, the answer is no and yes. No, you’re not going to instant have a big backside or belly simply because your parents do. However, we’re all a product of our parents – right down to the genes and right up to the lifestyle habits. It’s the lifestyle that our parents teach us (especially concerning eating and exercise) that really play a pivotal role in how we’re going to develop physically.

I grew up in a household were fast food and nightly sitcoms were the lifestyle my family adopted. As a result, I did end up with a big butt, legs, etc. in my teen years - just like Mom. Thanks Mom! :) But we all have the power to change our habits and I’ve changed mine. It may not be appropriate to say, but when I look at my Mom’s physique today, I see the big butt that I once had and could STILL get if I’m not careful.
