Fad diets come and go. Some enter with a bang and slowly fade over time, while others continue to ohh and ahh dieters for years. So what makes them so bad anyway?
Well, the main reason fad diets are frowned upon is because they do not work. Some say they even make you more over weight. Imagine that – a diet that makes you fatter. Well, statistics show that it’s true. There are also many fad diets that aren’t even healthy and just downright dangerous.
Without naming any names, let’s take a low carb diet for an example…
Controlling your carb intake will definitely make you lose weight. However, how long do you really think that you can you sustain this way of eating? I’d bet that it wouldn’t be very long. I don’t care how much of a meat lover you are, when your diet consists of 80%+ meats and proteins, you’re simply going to hate that stuff after a while. And what happens when you go off it? A nice long vacation in carb city!
Most dieters think that they can lower their carb intake and lose a bunch of weight then go back to their normal carb levels and be fine. Nope, it just doesn’t work that way. They’ll usually end up gaining all of their weight back and a little more. This is also known as Yo-Yo dieting. Sound familiar? I bet it does.
Some dieters actually go down to very little or no carbs, and that’s just plain old dangerous.
Fad diets don’t work because they radically change your way of eating to a point that you simply cannot live with. The results end up only being temporary. In the long run, you’re worse off.
Do you want a diet that works and will NOT deprive you of everyday foods? Then you may want to give FatLoss for Idiots a try. This diet is very effective and avoids the common fad diet pitfalls.
