What is it that makes larger people think that they can dress like a tiny person? I’m not trying to discriminate here - hell, I’m a large person, and I know what I can wear and what I can’t wear on this big butt frame of mine.
The problem is there isn’t much stylish clothing available for larger people. The more style-insistent large folks opt to squeeze their big bodies in much smaller, but stylish, clothes. Unfortunately, this “stuffing” does nothing but highlight the problem and create some nasty bulges.
Nothing looks worse than a size 18 body in a size 12 jeans. Ever hear of muffin-top? Well, that’s what our big waists look like when we squeeze into ubber-tight jeans. I hate that phrase, but try it. If you see muffin a top when you look in the mirror at your waist, those jeans are too tight!
We can dress to make ourselves look skinnier as well. Here are a few tips:
The classic advice is to stick to the darker colors in clothes. This streamlines the body, while hiding the bulges.
Another tip my Grandmother gave me is to wear pleated trousers conceal tummy bulges. I wear them at work and I like the look! Please don’t my Grandmother, and please don’t tell my friends that I take style advice from my Grandmother! LOL
Another tip is that an A-line skirt will conceal your thighs while emphasizing body length, making you look much slimmer and taller. It’s pretty amazing how this works.
Also, a loosely fitted vest can do wonders in hiding a thick waist. I know that vests are so “yesterday” but it does work.
These are just a few tips that can help you look skinner just by dressing a little differently. The best part, you didn’t have to skip any meal!
