A lot of diet programs are not very compatible with the busy lifestyle of most people. With the average working person spending 8-10 hours a day outside of their home, having to conform to specific eating schedules and foods is not easily doable. Some diet programs are better than others. Here’s a quick look at three diet programs and their compatibility with a busy lifestyle.

 

Weight Watchers

 

This weight loss program has been around for many years and there have been many success stories. The program allows you to choose the foods you want to eat, so you have a decent amount of control over your weight loss.



A food addict is certainly not a universally recognized addiction. In fact, most people laugh when they hear the term ‘food addict’. Yet, those same people likely feel very sympathetic for someone labeled as a drug addict, or smoking addict or gambling addict. Being addicted to food just doesn’t seem logical to the mainstream public.

 



The Adkins diet has been around for a long time. I remember when I was first introduced to it about 20 years ago. My mother informed me that the diet would allow me to eat steak, eggs, bacon, butter, etc. I was an instant fan, and when I started it the weight practically melted off.

 

After I had spent a couple weeks of low (practically no) carbohydrates while I was on Adkins, I was supposed to move on to the next phase of adding some carbs to my diet. I didn’t going for it. I had lost too much weight during the first two weeks so I figured I would just continue without any changes. This is where so many people make the mistake.




I’ve been fat, and I’ve been slim, right now I’m sort of in between. It seems like just about every winter I put on 15 or 20 pounds that I try to take off as quickly as possible in the early spring, and I’m usually quite successful at it. I’m also one of those types that, when I do gain weight, most of it seems to be in the form of belly fat. I know, not so attractive. Let me share with you my experiences of how I lose belly fat each year.



Alright, I hate to count calories. I’m sure there are a bunch of people out there that are just like me. However, I never really had a grasp of just what I was consuming each day until a created an honest weekly log of what I ate.

 

It’s true. If, prior to creating my food log, someone were to ask me how many calories I thought I was consuming each day, I’d say probably in the area of 2500 calories. After creating my log I realized that I averaged about 5000 calories a day! Don’t laugh until you calculate yours!



People have gained weight over weeks, months and even years. The process wasn’t an overnight process and losing it won’t be an overnight process. The strange thing is, the process to lose the weight actually never starts. Exercise is a good way to jump start this process, even without the initial dieting.

 

It has been suggested that exercising regularly usually leads to a diet improvement as well. This may not be an immediate affect, but over time the eating habits seem to change for the better. I guess if you’re spending 30 minutes a day on a tread mill, you’re less inclined to blow away that effort by eating a bowl of ice cream. It makes sense.



You have decided that you want to loose weight. You may have made a selection from the many diets that are available and decided to put your effort into the one that you feel most fits your needs. Millions of dieters go through this process every week (probably each day) and yet the outcome is usually failure.

 

Instead of asking what diet, maybe the correct question should be: does your body (i.e. your stomach/appetite) control what you eat or does your brain?
