Many people spend their whole lives each and every day eating some sort of fried food. You know, the kind you dip in that greasy stuff. These types of food are very bad for our weight management and our arteries, but why do so many people eat this stuff so often?

I grew up in a normal lower income family where fried food was the normal daily menu item. I don’t think it was because we all loved the taste of it so much, but rather it was a cheap source of food.

In my working class neighborhood, it was typical for both parents in each household to hold full time jobs. With Mon and Dad both working there was a very little energy left over in each day to prepare three meals, so we all usually opted for some type of fast food at least once a day. And fast food IS fried food.

Perhaps that upbringing has conditioned me as an older person to sort of become dependant on that fried chicken from KFC, or those deep fried French fries from McDonalds. I don’t know, but I do know it’s an ongoing battle to totally eliminate them from my diet.

In that sense I think it’s more of a conditioning. For example, children that are conditioned to study each day usually try to dedicate time each day/week as adults to reading and furthering their knowledge. I self taught myself good study habits after years of being an academic slacker. It was difficult to get used to, but I did it and eventually went on to graduate from the University. I realize that my habit for eating bad foods has a tighter hold on me, but I will self teach myself to eliminate this bad habit as well.
