Eating healthy in today’s world of fast food certainly isn’t easy to accomplish, especially on a continual basis. We’re all busy people. It’s just too easy to go out and grab dinner somewhere and not have to deal with all the cleaning of pots, pans and dishes.
Does this mean we should just throw up our hands in diet defeat and just stuff our faces until our little ol’ strained hearts are content? Well, I certainly don’t think so!
There are some things that even us busy people can do if we are serious about maintaining a healthy weight and lifestyle.
Below are four tips that can help:
1) Stop the late-night eating. Our bodies don’t burn many calories while sleeping. So eating within a short period of bedtime obviously increases the chances of the food turning into fat. I like to go to bed at least 3 hours after my last meal.
2) Don’t skip meals. People always seem to assume that you need to skip meals to lose weight. The problem is, once people actually sit down to eat, they end up eating twice as much as a result of skipping a meal. This does quite a number on the body’s metabolism and blood sugar levels.
3) Shop for food on a full stomach. This may seem like a crazy tip, but it works. Shopping for food hungry will result in your stomach screaming at you as you walk paste all those fatty and high-calorie foods.
Shopping hungry really puts dedication through the test, which you should try to avoid – who the heck needs to be tested when you don’t have to?!?
4) Don’t drink your calories. Leave your calories to the food. I know Coke Classic is just an awesome tasting beverage, but perhaps you can make the switch to the diet version, or better yet, opt for water. You’ll be amazed at the amount of calories you’ll save yourself.
Don’t believe me? Well, site down and figure all the sodas you drink throughout the average day, and calculate the calories that go along with it. I did, and I now save myself 800 – 1000 calories per day by choosing the diet option or water.
These are just 4 sensible tips. Nothing earth shattering here. However, don’t underestimate these little efforts. Doing just little things like these can make a nice difference on the scale.
